For the last 8 months I have sat in my office and stared and the only medal that means anything to me. It is simple in its design but it symbolizes 26.2 horrific miles. It not only symbolizes the journey but it is a representation of the miles I was able to conquer. It represents the over $1000 that was donated by people inspired and motivated enough to sacrifice financially for St. Jude. To say I am excited about the Memphis St Jude Marathon on December 5 would be a gross understatement. I am excited to see who might be willing to give support, both financial and / or emotional. I am excited about the person I feel this training enables me to become. As I run for the children of St. Jude who are fighting for their lives, my pain and struggle in training invites me to be a part of their lives which are so much more significant and inspiring than mine.
I remember the tour I received of St. Jude the day before my race last year. A child wrote a poem that was placed on the wall for all to see. The title was "Cancer Will Not Defeat Me." If only I can have a portion of this courage as I begin both physical training and financial support for these young children.
I'll need it starting Monday when my training begins. I am excited about blogging again. Thanks for following along.

eager to hear how training progresses and can't wait to start the race with you!
Awesome race report from last year. However, no amount of goodwill on your part will get you out of that letter you owe me. BTW - your sponsor Richard Russo - is that the author?
